VIDEO: Morris holds off Sussex in high-flying All-Star Game
Written by Paul Mencher - Wednesday, March 21 2012

Sure, it was just an All-Star Game. But after building a 32-point lead, the Morris County team did not want to walk off the floor with a loss.

After Sussex County erased that huge deficit to tie the basketball game with two minutes left, Morris ended the contest with an 11-2 run to secure a 147-138 triumph.

Julian Aiken of Randolph led the Morris team with 30 points, while Niko Kotoulas of Morris Knolls had 24 points and was named MVP. Ethan Lubowitz of Mountain Lakes hit the game's key shot, a three-pointer that put Morris back ahead after Sussex tied the game.

Morris dominated the first half and built a 99-67 lead in the third quarter. But behind some good long-range shooting and the play of Pope John's JaQuan Bryant, Sussex staged a big rally.

Bryant scored 24 points while Dan Tintle of Vernon led the Sussex team with 25. It was a Tintle layup that tied the game at 136-136 in the final minutes.

For all of these players, this will be the final basketball game in their high school uniform. Some will go on to play in college, while for others it was a last hoops hurrah.
